Rear-curtain sync
In normal flash photography, when photographing fast-moving subjects
at low shutter speeds at night, pictures can appear unnatural because
the subject frozen by the flash appears behind or within the blurred
movement. Rear-curtain sync flash creates a picture in which the blur of a
moving subject appears behind the subject and not in front.
• In front-curtain sync, the flash fires immediately after the front curtain is
fully open; in rear-curtain sync, the flash fires moments before the rear
curtain starts to close.
• Since low shutter speeds are normally used, use of a tripod is
recommended to prevent camera shake.
• Rear-curtain sync does not operate in repeating flash mode.
