The adapters provided with the SUPER COOLSCAN 5000 ED and COOLSCAN V ED can be

used to scan 35-mm ﬁ lm mounted as individual slides or in strips of two to six frames.

Choose an adapter

Check the status LED

Make sure that the status LED is glowing steadily. Do

not insert adapters or ﬁ lm while the status LED is blink-

ing.

Insert the adapter

Slide the adapter into the adapter slot. When the adapter is fully inserted, the status LED

will blink for about 30 seconds (5000 ED) or 20 seconds (COOLSCAN V ED).

Removing Adapters

Before removing adapters from the scanner, eject the ﬁ lm or slide (

38) and check that the status LED

has stopped blinking. Remove adapters as shown.

Optional Holders and Adapters

Optional adapters and ﬁ lm holders are available for a variety of ﬁ lm, including single-frame strips of 35-

mm ﬁ lm, APS (IX-240) ﬁ lm cartridges, glass microscope slides, and rolls of developed 35-mm ﬁ lm up to

forty frames in length (5000 ED only). See “Optional Holders and Adapters” (

48).
