Non-TTL auto flash mode
This mode is possible with all Nikon SLRs cameras including Digital SLRs.
At the instant the shutter is released and the SB-30 starts firing, the
SB-30’s built-in light sensor for Non-TTL auto flash measures the flash
illumination that is reflected back from the subject, automatically controlling
the SB-30’s flash output to provide the correct exposure. Therefore, auto
flash shooting is possible with cameras incompatible with TTL auto flash.
A choice of four shooting apertures is available: f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, and f/8
at ISO 100, and f/5.6, f/8, f/11, and f/16 at ISO 400.
Insufficient flash light warning indication in auto flash modes
When the flash has fired at its maximum output and underexposure may
have occurred, the ready-light blinks for approx. 1.5 sec. To compensate,
use a wider aperture or move closer to the subject and reshoot.
